Florida Shelter Pets Arrive In Tennessee After Hurricane Irma

The Animal Rescue Corps relocated animals from flood-stricken Florida shelters to a rescue center in Lebanon.

LEBANON, TN — More than 100 animals — including dogs, cats and ferrets — arrived in Lebanon Friday, as the Animal Rescue Corps relocated shelter animals from flood-stricken Florida to Wilson County after Hurricane Irma's push up the peninsula.

The Washington, D.C.-based ARC responded to a call for assistance from two shelters in Lee County, Fla. after Hurricane Irma began its onslaught and enlisted the help of animal transport groups in Tennessee and Georgia to move in and relocate the animals to ARC's Rescue Operations Center in Lebanon. The relocation allows the Florida shelters to clean-up and get their facilities back up and running while also assisting newly displaced animals.
