Tennessee Unemployment Hits Record Low For 3rd Straight Month

August's 3.3 percent unemployment rate sets a record for the lowest in Tennessee in recorded history.

NASHVILLE, TN — Tennessee's unemployment rate for August was 3.3 percent, the lowest in recorded history and breaking the previous record set with July's rate of 3.4 percent, which broke the record of 3.6 percent set in June.

Until June, Tennessee's jobless rate had not been below 4 percent since February 2001.

The national unemployment rate increased 0.1 percent in August.

Over the year, nonfarm employment increased 52,200 jobs and the unemployment rate has fallen 1.5 percent, while the national rate has declined 0.5 percent in the same period.
