20-Year-Old Dead After Accidental Shooting By Friend

A 20-year-old died after he was accidentally shot in the head by his friend in South Nashville Thursday, according to police.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 20-year-old man died Thursday after he was accidentally shot in the head by his friend, according to Metro Police.

Dedrick Wade, 20, told police he was handling a gun he believed to be unloaded inside a home on South Lyle Lane and he pulled the trigger, firing the gun and hitting his friend in the head.

Wade began driving his friend to Southern Hills Medical Center, but eventually pulled over on Nolensville Pike and called 911. The victim, who has not been identified pending notification of his next-of-kin, was pronounced dead in the car.

Wade is cooperating with detectives with the investigation which is ongoing. He was not charged Thursday night.
