Baby Believed To Be In Boosted BMW Found At Babysitter's

A mother told police her baby was in her stolen BMW, but, in fact, the mom had already dropped the little one off with the babysitter.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A stolen BMW led to a frantic search for a baby in South Nashville Tuesday, but the infant was with the babysitter the entire time, according to police.

Metro Police responded to a stolen vehicle call on Paragon Mills Road at 8:30 a.m. The BMW's owner told officers her baby was inside the car, but when it was found abandoned a short time later at a Lafayette Street convenience store, the child was not there.

In fact, the baby was with the sitter in a home on Reischa Drive. Investigators said the mother had dropped off an older child at Paragon Mills Elementary and then taken the baby to the sitter. The car, it seems, was actually stolen from the driveway of the sitter's home while the mother was inside.
