Crews Recover Body Of Man Who Fell Overboard On Percy Priest Lake

State and local officials located the boater's body after a nine-hour search in the chilly waters of Percy Priest.

ANTIOCH, TN β€” After a nine-hour search Sunday, divers recovered the body of a man who went overboard on Percy Priest Lake.

Around 11:15 Sunday morning, Kongmany Rajaphoumy, 50, was driving a boat near the Hamilton Creek Recreation Area when he took a sharp turn and flew over the gunwale. He was not wearing a life jacket, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

A friend who had gone to a truck to pull the boat out of the water called police and rescue crews from TWRA, the Nashville Fire Department and Metro's Office of Emergency Management spent the next nine hours searching the lake for Rajaphoumy, using a submersible, sonar and dogs. The area in which Rajaphoumy went overboard is about 35 feet deep and water temperatures hovered around 50 degrees Sunday.
