Pair Uses Cloned Cards To Buy Cell Phones: Police

Metro Police say two people used counterfeit cards to buy nearly $3,000 in cell phones.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Metro Police arrested two people for using stolen credit cards to create counterfeit cards and then using those cards to purchase nearly $3,000 worth of cell phones at T-Mobile stores across Davidson County.

Felipe Norbiel, 40, and Lisett Marquez-Medinilla, 31, were arrested after allegedly attempting to purchase a cell phone under the name of John Garcia from the Murfreesboro Pike T-Mobile on Thursday. Norbiel reportedly had a counterfeit Ohio drivers license under the name John Garcia, which he had used for numerous recent purchases at T-Mobile stores.

Arresting officers said they discovered three cell phones on the duo and recovered 11 others, with a total value of $2,800. Norbiel and Marquez were also carrying several encoded credit cards, according to police. Investigators say Norbiel admitted to purchasing credit card numbers and an embosser to make the cards, while Marquez admitted to actually encoding the cards.
