South Nashville Shoplifter Tried Biting Kroger Employee: Police

A 40-year-old Nashville man attempted to bite a Kroger employee who was trying to stop him from stealing $290 worth of groceries, police say

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 40-year-old Nashville man is accused of theft and assault after allegedly trying to bite a Kroger employee during a shoplifting bid.

Metro Police say that Kendall Solomon was walking out of the Thompson Lane Kroger with a basketful of groceries he hadn't paid for when a store loss-prevention employee intervened.

Solomon tried to run with his $290 worth of purloined food but was grabbed by the security guard and the pair fell to the ground.

Investigators say that surveillance footage shows Solomon trying to punch and bite the security guard.

Solomon is charged with theft under $1,000 and assault.
