Starving Puppy Found During South Nashville Eviction
A 6-month-old puppy was eating furniture and carpet to survive after being abandoned, animal control officials say.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 6-month-old puppy who was eating furniture and carpet to survive after being abandoned is recovering at Nashville's animal shelter.
Metro Animal Care and Control officials found Nugget, a pit bull-Labrador retriever mix, emaciated and close to death Feb. 27 at an apartment on Park Plus Boulevard.
“It appeared that he was starting to eat the furniture,” Lauren Bluestone, MACC Director, told WKRN. “He may not have eaten for weeks and was consuming pieces of carpet and a mattress to survive.”
