Woman Killed In Cane Ridge Crash

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in an early Friday morning wreck in Cane Ridge that killed one woman and injured another.

ANTIOCH, TN — One woman died and another woman was injured in a roll-over crash in Cane Ridge early Friday morning.

Metro Police said a Nissan Pathfinder overturned several times at the intersection of Burkitt and Battle roads around 2:30 a.m. Friday. Police say the driver, 34-year-old Merrick Hanse, veered across the center line and then over-corrected, causing the SUV to flip several times.

The passenger, 49-year-old Trena Goshtasbi, was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Hanse is at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious but non-critical injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Metro Police announced Friday afternoon that a breath test on Hanse indicated her blood-alcohol level was .213, more than twice the legal limit, and that she will be charged with vehicular homicide upon her release from the hospital.
