Williamson, Brentwood Unemployment Stays Historically Low
Slight increases notwithstanding, joblessness in Williamson County and Brentwood remained historically low in May, the state says.

NASHVILLE, TN — Despite a paltry increase of 0.1 percent in May, Williamson County's state-best unemployment rate remains at a historically low 2.1 percent, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
The unemployment rate rose in 75 counties, fell in eight and stayed the same in 12 others; only two of the state's 95 counties have a jobless rate above 5 percent.
Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, eight were in Middle Tennessee.

In Brentwood, the city-level unemployment rate is estimated at 2.2 percent, up 0.2 from April, and is the second-lowest figure among Tennessee cities of 25,000 people or more. Neighboring Franklin leads at 2 percent joblessness.

Williamson County's unemployment rate has dropped 0.2 percent since May 2017.
The state rate, reported last week, is 3.5 percent.
