Williamson County Unemployment Drops To 2.7 Percent

The unemployment rate dropped in all 95 Tennessee counties, with Williamson's down 0.4 percent from July.

BRENTWOOD, TN — The unemployment rate in Williamson County was 2.7 percent in August, down 0.4 percent from the July figure, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development. All 95 Tennessee counties reported a decline in joblessness in August.

Once again, Williamson County has the state's lowest unemployment rate, tied with Davidson County. Nine of the 10 lowest county numbers were in Middle Tennessee. Every county in Tennessee now has an unemployment rate no higher than 6 percent.

In the last year, the Williamson County jobless number has decreased 1.2 percent.

The estimated city-level figure for Brentwood is 2.9 percent, down 0.4 percent from July. In neighboring Franklin, it is 2.5 percent, the lowest among the state's cities of at least 25,000 people.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.3 percent, down 0.1 percent from July.
