17-Year-Old Dead In East Nashville Shooting

A teenager was killed in a Thursday night shooting in East Nashville and two suspects are on the lam.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 17-year-old was killed in a shooting on Joseph Avenue in East Nashville Thursday night and the two suspected shooters are on the run, according to Metro Police.

Police were called to Joseph Avenue around 8:30 p.m. and found Kennda Watkins shot in the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses told police two black males fled the scene, both armed with pistols. One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and the other a red and black hooded sweatshirt and dark shorts. The men left in a large white pickup and drove towards Dickerson Pike, according to witnesses.

Watkins is the 11th teenage murder victim in Davidson County in 2017. Through mid-September 2016, there were two such victims.
