3 Teens, 1 Adult Charged In Thwarted East Nashville Carjacking Spree
Metro Police say four young men attempted three carjackings in 20 minutes Saturday night in East Nashville

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — Three carjacking bids in 20 minutes Saturday night were traced to three teenagers and one adult, none of whom could apparently drive a stick shift, Metro Police said.
Around 7:30 Saturday night, a 28-year-old man pulled into his Burrus Street driveway and told police two people, one of whom had a pistol, suddenly appeared outside his driver's side door. The pair demanded his keys, according to police. The man complied and fled to his neighbor’s home. The thieves did not steal the car and investigators believe it's because it has a manual transmission.

Fifteen minutes later at Gallatin Pike and Gillock Street, about 800 feet away, a group of young men walked in front of a 26-year-old man's car and allegedly attempted to open the door. One of the group was armed, according to police. The driver sensed an opportunity to escape, so he accelerated and, again, the robbery was thwarted.
Five minutes after that and about a quarter mile south on Kirkland Avenue, a 27-year-old woman pulled into a driveway and a group of young men walked onto the property from the street. One of them was armed with a pistol and demanded her vehicle, she told police, while another person in the group approached and attempted to pull her away from the car. She threw her keys into a nearby bush and she said one robber looked for the keys while another took her wallet. Another person saw what was happening and the group fled when that person ran outside.

A few minutes later, officers saw a 14-year-old at a nearby MTA stop, "sweating profusely." The officers then saw three other young men board the bus, which the police followed and then pulled over, taking the trio into custody.
Detectives charged the 14-year-old with attempted aggravated robbery in the Gillock Street bid, as the victim identified him, according to police. Three others — Dedric Talley, 16, of Ed Temple Boulevard, Antwon Trice Jr., 20, of Katie Avenue, and Dalen Curry, 17, of Dellway Villa Road, — are charged with aggravated robbery in the Kirkland Avenue case.
The investigation is ongoing.
