After 2 Years On The Run, Nashville Murder Suspect Arrested In TX

Wanted for a 2015 murder, a 20-year-old Nashville man was arrested by U.S. Marshals in a Texas hotel room Wednesday.

MIDLAND, TX — Rafael McKinney has been on the run for more than two years, accused of murdering a 40-year-old woman at James Cayce Homes in July 2015. U.S. Marshals caught up to him Wednesday at a hotel in Midland, Texas.

On July 3, 2015, Pamela Sowell was killed at Cayce Homes following what police said was a "heated argument with several persons." On July 8, a juvenile court petition and arrest order was issued for McKinney, who was 17 at the time, for Sowell's murder.

Marshals tracked McKinney to the hotel where he was arrested. His mother, Tanya Howard, and stepfather Robert Parham were in an adjacent room at the hotel and are charged in Midland with hindering apprehension.
