Alleged Serial Thief Investigated For 25 More Break-Ins

An accused serial burglar was re-arrested and is under investigation for dozens more robberies.

NASHVILLE, TN — A man free on bond after his arrest for eight East Nashville business robberies in October 2016 was re-arrested Thursday and is under suspicion of another 25 break-ins.

Clarence E. Wright Jr., 22, who was free on a a $90,000 until his arrest, is now jailed on six new charges — four burglaries and two thefts — for a series of crimes in The Gulch October 1.

Wright is charged with breaking in to Apothecary, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Biscuit Love and A+ Storage. He is also accused of stealing money from Apothecary and Potbelly.

A stolen minivan alleged to have been used by Wright and still at-large accomplices was recovered later in the day on October 1.

Wright is the subject of continuing burglary investigations in six different Metro Police precincts.

Wright’s bond on the new charges is set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in court October 11 on 15 charges from 2016.
