Dead Man Discovered At Donelson Playground

DONELSON, TN — A man was found dead in the playground at a scenic and historic park at the tip of Pennington Bend in Donelson Wednesday morning.

Just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, someone called 911 to reports they'd heard gunshots coming from Lock Two Park, which sits high above the Cumberland River and includes historic buildings from the time the park and its namesake lock were part of the navigation system of the river.

Police were also contacted by a passerby who apparently saw a man in the park and became concerned. When police arrived, they found the body of a man. Investigators are not revealing the circumstances of his death or whether it is connected to the shots-fired report, but there are no other victims.
