DONELSON, TN — A Donelson man shot and killed his 18-year-old son during an argument Sunday afternoon, but police and prosecutors have decided not to charge him.

Metro Police were called to a Branwood Drive home around 12:30 Sunday afternoon and found Kobe Hoyle, 18, dead from a gunshot wound. Police say he was arguing with his father, 55-year-old Brentnol James and that the argument turned physical, resulting in an injury to James' face.

James told investigators after he was attacked, he shot his son. Initially, police announced charges would be filed, but walked that back after discussing the circumstances of the case with the District Attorney's office Sunday night.
