Driver Charged In Fatal Ellington Crash

Metro Police say the driver of a car that caused a deadly wreck Monday night will be charged with vehicular homicide.

NASHVILLE, TN -- The driver who allegedly caused a fatal crash on Ellington Parkway Monday night will be charged with vehicular homicide when he is released from the hospital.

Metro Police say that 65-year-old Ben Vaughn was driving southbound in the northbound lanes Monday night when his Chevrolet Cruze hit an Infiniti I30. A passenger in that Infiniti - Denisha McKinney, 28, of Nashville - died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The 28-year-old driver, Ulondria Bond, had non-life-threatening injuries and her 2-year-old son, who was in the back seat, has serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say a "freshly opened beer" was inside Vaughn's Cruze and that an officer at the hospital said Vaughn was impaired.
