Man Charged With Homicide In East Nashville Hit & Run
Metro Police charged a 47-year-old man with murder after he allegedly intentionally hit a pedestrian with his car Sunday.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 47-year-old man faces a homicide charge after he allegedly hit another man, who had already been involved in two fights with other men, with his car Sunday evening.'
Jose Francisco Aguilar was arrested Monday for criminal homicide in the death of Barry Lafferty, 48. Investigators say Lafferty was arguing with Juan Carhaza, 50, outside the Trinity Lane Market on Meridian Street Sunday afternoon. Carhaza reportedly told investigators that he left the market and called Aguilar, telling him he'd been assaulted.
Detectives say Aguilar then came to the market looking for the man who'd assaulted Carahza and was seen by witnesses leaving the market in a dark four-door sedan.

Meanwhile, Lafferty was assaulted by three other men near the intersection of Edwin Street and Meridian and then continued to walk on Meridian, after which he was struck by a dark four-door sedan, which fled after hitting him. Witnesses said the sedan was speeding and crossed the center yellow lane prior to hitting Lafferty.
Lafferty died at Skyline Medical Center.

Police say Aguilar admitted to driving the car that hit Lafferty and said he ditched the car at Gatewood Avenue and Dickerson Pike, but police have not located the vehicle.
Aguilar was being jailed Monday in lieu of $500,000 bond.
