The next two closures are tentatively scheduled for:

  • Friday, Oct. 20, 8 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 23, 6 a.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 27, 8 p.m., through Monday, Oct. 30, 6 a.m.

The next closure coincides with a Tennessee Titans away game, while the last takes place during the team's bye week.

As this week showed, closings are dependent on the weather, so TDOT will announce the Wednesday before the scheduled weekend if the closures will occur.

The $28.5 million project will replace the 56-year-old bridges that cross over Oldham Street and Spring Street on the eastern loop of downtown and include deck repairs to the Silliman Evans Bridge, as well as drainage work at the Shelby Avenue exit. The entire stretch of interstate will be resurfaced as part of the project.

Local and interstate access detour maps are available.

The bridges will be replaced using Accelerated Bridge Construction method, which, while requiring periods of total road closure, allows crews to work around the clock. This cuts work-time down to a few weekends rather than, in some cases, years.
