MADISON, TN -- A massive fire at an apartment complex in Madison destroyed a dozen units, sent at least one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and killed a Jack Russell terrier early Tuesday morning.

Nashville Fire Department crews responded to the blaze at the Dupont Avenue Apartments just north of Madison Park around 5 a.m. Tuesday. Flames were shooting out of the roof of one of the complex's buildings by the time firefighters arrived.

Witnesses said the fire began on the right side of the complex's D Building and then travelled across the roof, spreading through the units.
