Man Busted Breaking Into Metro Officer's Hermitage Home: Police
A alleged thief apparently didn't know his target home belonged to a Metro policeman.

HERMITAGE, TN -- He chose poorly. Allegedly.
Metro Police say a man unwittingly broke into an officer's Hermitage home Thursday and was so rattled by the revelation he couldn't keep his story straight.
According to an affidavit, MNPD Officer Bobby Watkins arrived at his Trenton Drive home around 10 a.m. Thursday and saw a van in his driveway. He circled his home and saw the back sliding-glass door shattered.

Watkins then returned to his car to get his service weapon when he saw David Ewing, 41, coming around the back of the house, according to the arrest report. Watkins detained Ewing and waited for on-duty officers to arrive.
According to the affidavit, Ewing's story changed a number of times, saying that he saw someone else kicking in the door, even though the door can't be seen from the street. He then said he was dropping someone off at the house. Eventually, he conceded that he drove the car in the driveway, according to the report.

Ewing is charged with aggravated burglary and driving on a suspended license. He is being held on a $15,000 bond.
