Man Charged In Ben Allen Road Murder

A 30-year-old man is charged with the February murder of a 34-year-old on Ben Allen Road.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Jailed on an unconnected failure to appeal charge, a 34-year-old man was charged with a February murder on Ben Allen Road.

Jemario Askew was indicted last week and booked Saturday for first-degree murder in the February 20 death of Shamar Lewis at an apartment complex on Ben Allen Road.

Metro Police say that Askew and Lewis knew one another before meeting at the Cobblestone Corners Apartments. Detectives believe the motive was robbery.

According to MNPD, Askew was arrested on charges of felony cocaine possession and unlawfully having guns in August 2016 and bonded out of jail. He was arrested on a felony cocaine charge in February 2017 and bonded out of jail. He was arrested on charges of unlawful gun possession, DUI, and theft in April 2017 and bonded out of jail. He was arrested on two counts of felony aggravated assault and one count of simple assault in December 2017 and again bonded out of jail.

He is set to appear in court Wednesday on a number of the earlier charges.
