When police arrived shortly thereafter, 18-year-old Kenneth Jernigan was dead - police determined he was one of the suspected robbers because he was masked - and one of the Burger King workers was critically injured. That person was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The two other gunmen ran from the restaurant, witnesses told police, and drove away in a white sedan.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened, as it is unclear who shot whom or if the dead suspect shot himself. The restaurant does have surveillance cameras and detectives expected to review those tapes later Tuesday.
