Mom Throws Scissors At Daughter For Playing Around TV: Nashville Police
A woman is accused of hitting her 8-year-old daughter with scissors and chasing her because she was mad she was playing near a TV.
EAST NASHVILLE, TN — A 27-year-old mother threw a pair of scissors at her young daughter and then chased her into the street, angered because the little girl had been playing near a television, according to police.
Police were called to Second Street Tuesday afternoon after residents reported seeing Tabisenga Balewa chasing a young girl with a pair of scissors. When officers arrived, they noticed the 8-year-old girl had a wound in the center of her chest. Police say Balewa told them initially that her daughter had fallen and hurt herself, but she changed her story later when speaking to a Youth Services detective.

Balewa told the detective her daughter was playing behind a television at a friend's house and that she was worried she would damage the television, according to the affidavit. The little girl ignored her mother and Balewa "stated that she decided to throw something at the juvenile to get her attention and that the first thing that she saw was a pair of scissors," the police report says.
The girl was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is expected to recover.
