A man beaten outside a Nashville club in October died Christmas Day and charges against his alleged assailant may be upgraded.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Shamar Davis, the 20-year-old man who went into a coma following an alleged beating by a bouncer at Jazzy's Lounge in October, died Christmas night, according to Metro Police, and his alleged assailant is likely to face murder charges.

On October 15, security at Jazzy's Restaurant and Lounge on Hampton Street escorted Shamar Davis from the club, when he allegedly punched one of the bouncers in the face. According to a police report, Lamar Clay, who was working security but was not among the group escorting Davis, jumped into the fray, pushing Davis to the ground of the parking lot and repeatedly punched him in the face.

Davis was declared brain dead in November and Clay was arrested and charged with attempted criminal homicide.
