Neighbors Charged In Neely's Bend Home Invasion

Police say a man and woman robbed their neighbors in a Sunday morning home invasion on Neelys Bend.

MADISON, TN — A poorly negotiated turn led to the arrest of two people for a Sunday home invasion on Neelys Bend.

Jeffrey McNew, 29, and Sadie Arnold, 23, are charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault in Sunday's attack. The pair were identified by investigators after a wreck late Sunday morning during which Arnold, trying to turn into a home on Donelson Pike, struck a utility pole in her 1997 Buick Century, identified as a car connected to the crime. Arnold was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she is in stable condition. McNew was treated, released and then arrested at Summit.

Around 7:30 Sunday morning, McNew and Arnold climbed through a kitchen window at a home on Neely's Bend, beginning an ordeal for the three people inside, according to police.

McNew and Arnold went into the bedroom of the parents at the home, showing them their handguns and demanding money and valuables, investigators said. They then went into the bedroom of the couple's teenage son and demanded he and a friend who was also there join the adults.
