Neighbors Push To Shut Down Inglewood Hookah Bar

After the second deadly shooting at Cloud IX this year, neighbors want it shut down while police investigate if the latest was self-defense.

INGLEWOOD, TN -- As police investigate the latest deadly shooting at an Inglewood hookah bar, neighbors are investigating if they have any recourse or ability to shut it down.

Jason McClain, a 30-year-old father of three, was shot and killed in a shootout outside Cloud IX at the intersection of Stratford Avenue and Gallatin Road early Sunday morning. Another man was injured in the gunfight.

The club's security guards told police they fired in self-defense. They said there was a verbal altercation with McClain inside the club when they kicked him out. The bouncers said when they got outside, McClain fired on them first.

In light of the violence, neighbors are investigating if the club can be shut down.

“There's plenty of bars here open late where that's not happening, I think if they can't clean it up they probably should lose their business license,” Mathew Timmons told Fox 17.

Timmons said incidents at Cloud IX have become so commonplace, they've almost become part of the weekend routine.

“It's kind of weird to say it, because it feels a little bit normal now, like ‘oh ok, it's Cloud IX and there's something going on,” he told the station.

Neighbors are considering a petition drive and working with the landlord and councilmembers to address the problems.
