Stolen Guns Found After Attempted Madison Stick-Up: Police

Two stolen guns - including one that had been reported stolen 20 years ago - were seized following an attempted Madison hold-up, police say.

MADISON, TN -- Two guns - including one reported stolen 20 years ago - were discovered by Metro Police after foiling a hold-up attempt in Madison, officials say.

Friday night, a group of officers in unmarked cars were positioned at Falcon View Apartments on East Palestine Avenue in an effort to stop a spree of robberies reported at the complex.

While they watched, three men approached a man in his car, police said. One of the men "suspiciously pulled up the hood on his jacket as he neared the vehicle" and the officers quickly approached as the three men tried to rob the man.

Police say one of the suspected robbers, Demecko Ferguson, 21, was carrying a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol that had been reported stolen in a Rutherford County gun store burglary. A bag of marijuana and a Tec-9 semi-automatic pistol reported stolen in Nashville in 1998 were found during the search for the other two suspects, investigators said.

Ferguson is charged with aggravated robbery, weapon possession in the commission of a dangerous felony, and possessing a stolen gun. He is jailed in lieu of $96,000 bond.
