Here are the top three stories in Franklin today:

  1. Franklin Citizens' Fire Academy is returning after a two-year pandemic hiatus. The academy was established in 2007 and gives residents the opportunity to experience the life of a firefighter firsthand. The program will begin on Sep. 1. Participants will learn about gear, vehicles, CPR, and hose operations. Click to apply. (williamsonherald.com)
  2. The Franklin Police Department Chief and the Franklin Fire Department Chief discussed working together to keep residents safe during a panel discussion with Franklin Tomorrow. The chiefs were joined by City Administrator Eric Stuckey. The panel reported that a majority of people report feeling very safe in Franklin, based on a recent poll by niche.com. The city's crime rates are 51 percent lower than the national average. (Williamson Source)
  3. Today is the final day of the Williamson County Fair. This year's festivities kicked off on Aug. 5 at the Williamson County Agricultural EXPO Park. Notable events on the fair's last day are the Hometown Heroes Awards Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. and a 4-H Chick Chain Show at noon.
