Franklin City Elections: Burger, McClendon, Martin, Speedy Win
Michael Skinner was the only incumbent to lose in Tuesday's Franklin aldermanic elections.

FRANKLIN, TN — Incumbent aldermen won three of the four seats in Franklin's elections Tuesday, with Michael Skinner the lone exception, losing his Ward 3 seat to Scott Speedy.
As off-year local elections often are, it was a low turnout affair, with just 4,373 ballots cast. That's 9.2 percent of Franklin's registered voters.

Ward 1 incumbent Beverly Burger won re-election with 54 percent of the vote, far outpacing even the combined totals of her two challengers, J. Edward Campbell and Michael Phillips. Ward 4's Margaret Martin, too, had a largely nerve-free night, beating Elizabeth Downing Wanczak 582 to 400, an 18 percent margin.
But those incumbents couldn't match the overwhelming win by Speedy, who took three-quarters of the vote against the defending Skinner.

The only race that was even in question after the early voting totals were released was in Ward 2 as Dana McClendon bested challenger Mike Vaughn by 28 votes.
