Red To Green: Franklin Traffic Light Stop Ends With Pot Bust

Franklin Police said a convicted felon was found carrying a pound of marijuana following a traffic stop.

FRANKLIN, TN -- James Johnson is charged with failure to obey a traffic control device, though that moving violation is likely the least of his worries.

Franklin Police said the Columbia 28-year-old ran a red light on Mallory Lane at Cool Springs Boulevard around 9 p.m. Saturday night. Officers said when they pulled him over, they could smell marijuana and indeed they found more than one pound of pot in a vacuum-sealed bag.

Johnson, a convicted felon, is charged with manufacture, delivery or sale of a Schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia in addition to the traffic ticket.
