- The City of Franklin will be closing the southbound lane on Franklin Road from Sep. 6 through Sep. 23. The city and the Tennessee Department of Transportation hope that the closure will expedite the project's completion. A detour will be enacted through Mack Hatcher to Hillsboro Road. The northbound lane will remain open. (WKRN News 2)
- Franklin's Dr. Laura Andreson, an OB-GYN, reports that the state's abortion restrictions are already affecting patient care. The most restrictive of the state's laws went into effect on Thursday last week. The laws do not allow an exception for rape, incest, fetal abnormalities, or the life of the mother. Dr. Andreson states that she could not perform necessary medical care because of the risk of being charged with a felony. (Main Street Nashville)
- The sentencing of former Rep. Robin Smith has been postponed to early next year. The delay is due to her cooperation in the prosecution of Williamson County's Rep. Glen Casada. Her sentencing hearing was originally scheduled for Oct. 17. Casada was arrested last week from his home on various charges of bribery, theft, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
