Williamson County Plane Crash Kills 1
A small plane crash outside of Thompson's Station killed one man Thursday afternoon.

THOMPSON'S STATION -- A small plane crash in Thompson's Station killed one man Thursday, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Department.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft, which was built from a kit, hit some trees before crashing into a field 40 to 50 yards from a home on Casparis Road near Interstate 840. No one inside the home was injured.
Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Long said someone saw the plane going down called 911 and tried to render aid to the victim until paramedics arrived.

“It’s a tragedy… Someone has lost their loved one and that hits home for all of us,” he told WKRN.
There was no indication the pilot, who has not been identified, attempted to land the plane before the crash.

Both the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
