Drunken Driver Wrecks Work Truck With Daughter In Back Seat: Belle Meade Police

A Kentucky man admitted to drinking "an unknown number of vodka drinks" before wrecking his truck in Belle Meade, police say.

BELLE MEADE, TN — A Kentucky man faces DUI charges after wrecking his work truck with his intellectually disabled teenage daughter in the backseat in Belle Meade.

According to an arrest affidavit, Todd Shouse, 52, rammed a large white pick-up into the front gate of a Belle Meade Boulevard estate October 8, destroying four large concrete gate posts. The front and side of his pickup was heavily damaged.

A breathalyzer indicated Shouse's blood alcohol level was .317 and he reportedly told police he had one beer and an "unknown number of vodka drinks" before getting behind the wheel.

Shouse is charged with DUI — he had a previous conviction for DUI 13 years ago in the Commonwealth — and could face further charges due to his daughter being in the pick-up.
