Former Titan Derrick Mason Charged With Domestic Assault

Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver and current radio host Derrick Mason is charged with domestic assault and vandalism.

BELLEVUE, TN — Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Derrick Mason, now a sports-talk radio host, is charged with felony aggravated domestic assault and misdemeanor vandalism after an incident at his girlfriend's Bellevue home Monday morning.

Metro Police were called to the woman's home at 9:30 Monday morning. She said Mason grabbed her by the neck and hit in the stomach during after she told Mason, 43, she wanted to break-up with him.

Detectives said the woman had bruises on her right arm, a red mark on her neck and scratch on her left hand. There was also a hole in the back of the door, which the woman told police Mason caused, according to an affidavit.

Mason had already left by the time police arrived, but he turned himself in to be booked after he learned a detective had sworn out warrants for his arrest. There's no previous records of incidents between Mason and the woman.

Mason played for the Tennessee Oiler and Titans between 1997 and 2004, then played for the Baltimore Ravens between 2005 and 2010, before splitting the 2011 season with the New York Jets and Houston Oilers. Mason is the co-host of 3D, the midday show on 102.5 The Game in Nashville.
