Sharpie-Wielding Vandal Damages Christ The King

A 38-year-old man is charged with doing more than $1,000 in damage to Christ The King church and its school, all with a sharpie.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 38-year-old Nashville man is charged with vandalism and burglary, after police say he did more than $1,000 in damage to a church with a sharpie.

Robert Woody was arrested walking on Belmont Boulevard early Saturday afternoon with the permanent marker clipped to his shirt, according to an arrest affidavit. Police say that midmorning Saturday, Woody entered Christ The King "marking every wall, statues, doors, and furniture he could find," a police report said.

He reportedly repeated his vandalism inside the church school, also stealing a vase and a photo.

The affidavit did not offer any explanation for Woody's motive. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.
