Unusually Dressed Gunman Shoots Security Guard At West End Rite-Aid

An oddly dressed man shot and critically wounded an unarmed security guard at the West End Rite Aid early Monday.

NASHVILLE, TN — An unarmed security was critically injured when he was shot by an oddly dressed thief at a West End drug store Monday morning.

Metro Police said the man, pictured above, entered the Rite-Aid at the West End-Elliston Place flatiron with a bandanna on his face shortly before 4 a.m. He demanded money from a clerk and then shot the security guard in the chest as he fled.

Officers from Vanderbilt University Police were first on the scene, arriving ahead of MNPD.

The security guard, a three-year employee of private security firm Cumberland Security, is at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
