Bellaire Debris Pickup Begins On Southeast Side, Will Continue 6 Weeks

Contractor committed to cleaning up every house, pickup is from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., seven days a week

BELLAIRE, TX — The city of Bellaire began debris pickup on Friday and it will continue for approximately six weeks as cleanup from Hurricane Harvey continues. The first occurring work is ongoing in the southeast portion of the city with ongoing work, and the debris removal and hauling operations will take place between 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. seven days a week until the work is complete.

"Progress has been slower than expected as it has taken longer than anticipated to gather and dedicate equipment and assets for the work," it says on the city's website. "However, more equipment is arriving daily and it is expected that the process will improve and progress will be noticeable."

The contractor working with the city has committed to complete an initial cleanup of every property in the city by September 28. Thereafter, residents can expect at least two more debris pick up opportunities.
