Bellaire High School Boasts 16 2017 National Merit Scholarship Finalists
Ambitious students made the cut, and now hope to win one of some 7,500 coveted awards.

BELLAIRE, TX — Every year, thousands of students around the nation compete for scholarships, hoping that they make the grade and are selected for awards and prizes that will help them pay for their college educations. One of the most coveted such awards is the National Merit Scholarship, and 16 students at Bellaire High School are in the running to bring one home this year.
Edward Cen, Dongha Choi, Anusha De, Jonathan Dorsey, Curran Han, Anna Jorgensen, Venu Kantanmani, Aneil Marathi, Oren Pazgal, Hannah Reeves, Michelle Tang, Clarise Trinh, Timothy Wei, Aaron Wong, Jonathan Zhang, and Yijie Zhang represent Bellaire High School on the 2017 finalists' roster.

Around the nation, some 15,000 students make the finalist cut, and will soon be notified if they received one of approximately 7,500 scholarships, each of which is worth $2,500. Winners are selected without consideration of their family financial circumstances, college choice, major, or career plans.
