Dr. Aquila to Speak at SAR Chapter Meeting

Dr. Dominic Aquila, a professor at the University of St. Thomas, will be speaking on Saturday, December 11th, to the Paul Carrington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. His topic will be “George Washington and the Republican Ideal.”

Dr. Aquila is a professor of history and the director of Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness at the University of St. Thomas. He recently had been the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs before returning to teaching and research. He received a Bachelors’s degree in Music from the Juilliard School, an M.B.A. From New York University, a Ph.D. in History from the University of South Africa, and a Ed.D. from Texas Tech University.

The breakfast meeting will be held at the Braeburn Country Club, 8101 Bissonnet. Members and visitors start to gather at 9AM. A Texas Hill Country Breakfast buffet featuring fresh fruit and a breakfast taco station with scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, sausage, cheese, refried beans, homemade salsa, and sour cream will be served after our opening pledges and invocation. The meeting will conclude by 10:30.

The Paul Carrington Chapter SAR is named after a notable American Revolutionary patriot and has served the metropolitan Houston area since 1930. Membership is open to any male lineal descendant of a Revolutionary War soldier, sailor, or Patriot. This includes persons who fought in the military/militia and may have provided supplies, medical aid, signed Oaths of Faith and Fidelity, and similar acts.
