This week on Clear Lake Connections Podcast presented by UTMB Health: Meet Kenda Biddle, Event Coordinator at the Kemah Boardwalk In this week’s episode, Kenda discusses all of the events Kemah Boardwalk has going on this Halloween weekend from their 20th Anniversary “Boo on the Boardwalk” Dungeon of Doom Haunted House, Boogeyman Band Live Entertainment and their celebration on Saturday for Day of the Dead. Kenda also talks about the Boardwalk’s upcoming Holiday Events, their toy drive for the Ronald McDonald House of Houston and how they made a little boy’s dreams come true by partnering with the Make a Wish Foundation.

For the 20th Anniversary of Boo on the Boardwalk, they have played it up and made it bigger and better than ever.

  • On Friday night they are showing Monster House in the Bradford Plaza area so families to come and watch the movie.
  • On Friday and Saturday, they are having a boogeyman band, live entertainment for their guests.
  • On Saturday they will be having their day of the dead celebration and they will have a skeleton stilt walker, traditional Mexican folk dance exhibitionists thought the afternoon, mariachi bands, children’s sugar skull craft activities and a costume contest at 5pm on Saturday evening as well as a freaky food eating contest at 5:45, for Halloween the will have another costume contest at 5pm food eating and plenty of live entertainment and kids activities.

They come up with these ideas with months in advance and she usually likes to have an event planned 3 months in advance of the event. They tighten the details as they get closer and they really try to focus on things that they think families will enjoy. They do have their kids “Little Boo” haunted house for the kids who are 12 and under, its not super scary. For families with older kids, they have their Dungeon of Doom haunted house is newly renovated, in the haunted house you can expect a lot of jump scares. 15-2o minutes to go through.

For the Christmas holidays they have pictures with Santa after thanksgiving and they will be taking toy donations for Ronald McDonald House Houston this year to help give back in the community. They will be having activities for their jingle on the boardwalk event on Saturdays and Sundays in December through the 19th including balloon art, holiday music, Santa’s workshop craft activities and photos with Santa available. They love partnering with the Chamber and helping with the judging of the Christmas Boat Lane Parade on December 11th an this year they are doing the rock the dock series that is the rock the dock holiday party on the 18th, they will have already gone playing and an ugly sweater contest. Their biggest events that draw people from outside of the area are definitely their boo on the boardwalk activities, their wine fest on November 13th with a preview of the BAHBAT nutcracker and their Tejano music fest that brings in a lot of families as well.
