Clear Lake Patch's Holiday 2016 Event Guide

Whether it's a performance by one of Houston's oldest, non-profit choral groups or a holiday film series, ​Patch has readers covered.

CLEAR LAKE, TX - Celebrations are abound this holiday season in the Clear Lake City area, and the Clear Lake Patch knows where to find them.


  • Christmas Boat Lane Parade: Happening Dec. 10 at 6 p.m., the Christmas Boat Lane Parade is traditionally attended by more than 100,000 people from land and from hundreds of boats anchored through the lake coast. The 55th, annual parade will feature more than 100 brightly decorated power and sailboats that will traverse the Clear Lake channel from South Shore Harbour Marina and the Nassau Bay Lagoon to Galveston Bay.
  • Bay Area Chorus: The Bay Area Chorus is set to present two Christmas concerts as part of its 50th season, featuring the chorus's new artistic director, Milton Pullen. The concerts will be held Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. at the chapel of the Villa de Matel. The Bay Area Youth Singers, under the direction of Brenda Varvoutis, will sing selections of the season with harp, organ and percussion instruments at the Villa concert. The Clear Lake Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir will sing two songs, composed and arranged by Dr. David Stocker, in the church sanctuary. Advance tickets cost $15 and will be $20 at the door for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students.

  • Christmas Adopt-a-Family: The Clear Lake City Community Association asks members of the Clear Lake community to sponsor a local child and purchase new clothes and toys for him or her. Interested residents may contact the Clear Lake City Community Association Sports and Recreation Complex, located at 16511 Diana Ln., via (281) 488-0360.
  • Winter Film Festival: The Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library, located at 16616 Diana Ln., has planned a two-part Winter Film Festival series. Film screenings will be held Fridays, Dec. 16 and Dec. 30 at 10:15 a.m. Contact (281) 488-1906 for further details.
