Cold Front, Thunderstorms Headed For Clear Lake On Thanksgiving

CLEAR LAKE, TX — Residents of Clear Lake might not be able to add the weather to the list of things they're thankful for on Thanksgiving as a cold front will move through the area Thursday, potentially bringing thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

The front is expected to move through the Houston metro between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service Houston. Clear Lake is expected to receive 1 to 1.5 inches of rain, according to the NWS forecast.

Severe thunderstorms are not expected, according to NWS Houston, though isolated areas could see 3 or more inches of rain. The NWS is predicting that potential thunderstorms could affect areas south of College Station, including the Houston metro.

Street flooding could occur, and NWS Houston recommends driving with caution. Cars could flood in low-lying areas, and water on roadways increases the risk of hydroplaning, according to the National Weather Service.

Clear Lake is expected to have a dry Thanksgiving evening, and those conditions are likely to hold until Saturday morning. Light rain is in the forecast for Saturday afternoon and evening. The cold front is expected to bring low temperatures with Accuweather forecasting a high of 74 degrees on Thanksgiving, 58 degrees Friday and 63 degrees Saturday.
