Galveston NAACP to Hold Town Hall Meeting

The Galveston branch of the NAACP will hold a meeting to discuss keep the community safe.

Galveston, TX -- It's time for a sit down. The Galveston chapter of the NAACP will hold a town hall meeting on at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 25.

The meeting, which will be at the Old Central Cultural Center Library, 26217 Avenue M, will focus on working together to develop a plan of action to keep people safe and preventing Galveston from becoming "a statistic," according to a post on the group's Facebook page.

Galveston Mayor Jim Yarbrough, City Manager Brain Maxwll and Police Chief Richard Doyle are all scheduled to attend the meeting.

The Galveston chapter hopes to formulate a plan that ensures "the safety and well being (equal rights) of our residents and ... eliminate[s] race-based discrimination," according to the group's Facebook post.
