High Tide From Hurricane Michael Delays Classes In Galveston
Hurricane Michael is nearing the Florida panhandle but the tides are high all along the Gulf Coast states.

GALVESTON, TX — As Hurricane Michael nears the Florida coastline, the monster storm is making its presence felt hundreds of miles away. Officials in Galveston ISD announced that the resulting higher tide from Hurricane Michael delayed the start of classes at two area schools until 10 a.m.
Students at Crenshaw Middle School and Crenshaw Elementary School on Bolivar Peninsula arrived at their respective campuses two hours later than normal.
All other Galveston ISD schools started their school day on time, officials said.

High Island ISD in Galveston County also delayed the start of classes until 10 a.m. because of the unusually high tide.
