Texas School Shooting: Injured Officer Has Ties To Houston PD
John Barnes, who was critically injured during the Santa Fe School Shooting, retired Fro HPD in January.

GALVESTON, TX — A Santa Fe ISD Police officer who was wounded in an attack at Santa Fe High School that left 10 dead and wounded nine others, has ties to the Houston Police Department.
For 23 years, John Barnes, 49, was a member of the Houston Police Department.
Barnes was sworn in as a HPD officer n 1995, and retired in January, according to a KTRK report.

Barnes was shot in the arm while confronting school shooter, identified as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis.
Barnes was taken to UTMB in Galveston in critical condition where he underwent surgery.

He is expected to recover.
Barnes was visited by Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo at UTMB Galveston on Friday afternoon.
