Marine Braves Storm To Save Old Glory

Semper Fi: Anthony Rodriguez​, who served in Iraq, braved the July 4th storm to pickup an American flag that had fallen to the ground.

DEER PARK, TX -- The storms that rolled through the Houston area on Independence Day may have put a damper on fireworks, but it did little to drown the patriotism of one former Marine.

Former U.S. Marine, and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran Anthony Rodriguez saw an American flag that had been placed in the median for Independence Day, fall to the ground.

In true Marine Corps fashion, Rodriguez braved the pelting rain, to stand Old Glory upright and unfurl the flag, according to a KTRK report.

Rodriguez, who served on active duty for five years, was wounded in Iraq.
