Oil Leak Closes Loop 197 In Texas City
The Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery experienced a crude oil leak on Wednesday morning, shutting down a portion of Loop 197 in Texas City.

TEXAS CITY, TX — A crude oil spill at a Texas City refinery has closed a portion of Loop 197.
The leak happened at the Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery at roughly 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to Texas City officials.
Loop 197 is closed from FM 519 to 4th Avenue South for the duration of the incident. The closure will last an estimated 4-6 hours, according to city officials.

No injuries have been reported, and the leak is contained to the refinery, according to Marathon Petroleum spokesperson Jamal T. Kheiry.
It's not clear how much oil spilled, but video from ABC13 shows crude oil spilling from a large tank at the refinery.

Several Facebook users reported a foul smell in the area on the Texas City Facebook post.
