Ridseshare Passenger Killed In DWI Crash With Pickup
The driver of a pickup faces intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault after he slammed into the side of a car, police said.
CLEAR LAKE, TX — Police said two drivers who were intoxicated will face charges after they both slammed into a car, killing the passenger and seriously injuring the driver.
The crash happened at about 1 a.m. Friday near Pineloch Drive and Galveston Road, and involved two pickup trucks and a sedan that may have had a Lyft sticker, police said.
According to investigators, the driver of a Dodge pickup, identified at Erik DeLeon, 21, was traveling on Galveston Road when he clipped the back of another vehicle.

Police said DeLeon drove through the intersection and slammed into the sedan, killing the backseat passenger, identified as Dr. Billy Satterfield, and injuring the driver identified as Afghan refugee Ezatullah Safi.
A second smaller pickup, driven by 32-year-old Jesse Mercado, also went through the intersection and hit the first pickup. Police said DeLeon has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, while Mercado was charged with DWI.

Police said DeLeon allegedly admitted to doing tequila shots before the crash.
